With systematic practice of specific exercises coupled with focused breathing patterns, Pilates has proven itself invaluable not only as a fitness endeavour, but also as an important adjunct to professional sports training and physical rehabilitation of all kinds.

All training is done on a personal basis. Everyone is different, as are their abilities in movement and connection. Maisa’s desire is to draw attention back to the original design around fitness; to bring the body and mind back to a place of functionality and efficiency that gets stronger with age and knowledge. Pilates is the elixir of youth—you can reverse the effects of age and gravity on the body. It is not easy, and it takes time and practice, but it can change your life like it did for Joseph Pilates, Maisa, and thousands of others!

OUR APPROACH

During our private or semi-private studio session, (3 people maximum per instructor), each client is taught according to their individual needs. Over the course of an hour, you will be guided through a series of Pilates moves – both on the mats and on specialised equipment – that are designed to help your body, while under constant supervision from the instructor.

These one-hour studio sessions increase gradually in intensity as you gain greater strength, with plenty of juicy stuff to keep you coming back for more.


A MINDFUL MOVEMENT

We understand the intimate relationship between physical well-being on the one hand and mindfulness on the other. Body Contrology takes you on a journey, unlocking knowledge that is already present in your own mind and body, about how to feel good. It teaches you ways in which you can experience for yourself how your body and mind interact and align from moment to moment and how that alignment can create a sense of “falling into the right place” both with yourself and the world around you.

The focus at Body Contrology is to guide you towards discovering the amazing mind and body connection that Pilates provides, through balanced muscle development, core strength, flexibility and awareness in order to support the efficient, graceful and pain-free movement.

The core is the body’s center of power, so the stronger you are in that area, the easier your life will be.


A BETTER POSTURE

Core muscle strength and spinal alignment are the two of the key elements of Pilates. As a posture exercise, Pilates works on the deep, supportive muscles of the entire spine.
